In a key decision, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), chaired by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, has approved income tax exemptions for the International Cricket Council (ICC) in connection with the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. As per the hosting agreement, ICC and its affiliates will not be subject to taxes, while Pakistani entities, including PCB, will remain taxable. Sales Tax and Federal Excise Duty exemptions were not granted.
The ECC also reviewed other matters, including lifting the ban on sheep and goat exports to Kuwait, which was deferred for further review. Additionally, a Technical Supplementary Grant of Rs. 6.859 billion was approved for energy sector development in the 2024-25 financial year.
